Private lactation consulting is a service offered by Ariel and is not exclusive to families that have delivered through the Selkirk Medical Group. If this is the case, please contact the clinic reception to schedule an initial consultation at 250-837-9321.
If you are beyond 8 week postpartum and/or do not have a BC Care Card please note that all services will be paid directly.
Ariel is an IBCLC or an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
In addition to her lactation knowledge and as a registered midwife, she has additional clinical training to aid families in their struggle to breastfeed. Her aim is to support mothers and babies in knowledge, skills, health, and confidence!
If you have recently given birth or have a not-so newborn at home and you are continuing to work hard to breastfeed with obstacles, a lactation consultant can provide solutions.
An initial consultation lays the foundation of your success to date and your goals for the future.
This will be scheduled at your home and follow-up consultations can be arranged over the phone, at the Selkirk Medical Group, or in your home
Follow-up visits will be scheduled as needed.
Services include but are not restricted to:
Assessment of mother and baby concerns.
Observation of breastfeeding.
Assistance with breastfeeding basics (positioning and latch).
Assistance with use of equipment (breast pump) if indicated.
Individualized feeding plan.
Precision weighing your baby.
Rates
Initial Consultation (in-person in your home) - $200 without time limit
Follow-up Consultations (any setting) - $50 /30 minutes
